Sports And Racism In Small Town U.S.A.
Posted by Fred Mason on Apr 4, 2007, 21:59
The point of my writing here is to share what I have experienced, and to also look for answers, as well as inform other guys and women like me who may also be in other small towns across the USA and are finding how difficult it is for a black person to be represented in the towns they live in. Difficult…but not hopeless.

Hoops And Governing Bodies Have No Business In Courts
Posted by Gregory Moore on Feb 1, 2007, 21:57
Remember when watching a varsity high school basketball game was just pure enjoyment and you didn't care where the stars were going to school as seniors, all you wanted was to enjoy the purity of the game? Well that's not the case anymore. When you have scouting services literally pinpointing the next basketball genius before he can get out of the crib, the landscape of boys varsity b-ball has started to turn into big business. And no other name right now is bigger than that of O.J. Mayo. BASN's Gregory Moore writes how this latest story about Mayo may actually be more than just hoops story as impropriety and mismanagement at various levels may become another story line.

Does Racism Still Exist?
Posted by Fred Mason on Oct 24, 2006, 21:59
I write this document on this date, October 22nd, based on an event that happened on October 13th, just over a week ago. This is based on what happened at a local high school football game. There are a few angles that this may be viewed under, but there are counters for that as well. But the one thing I want to try to get across to anyone reading this is to answer this question; does racism still exist, in small towns like Wilson, North Carolina? Your answer cannot be “maybe”, it must be either “yes” or “no”.
Head Case: A Short-Short Story

When he enters the gym the ballers he’d played with and against since grade school, fans who’d borne witness, point him out: “Train’s in the house.” Like a neighborhoodwatch group, they make sure he gets to his courtside seat...
