Cinderella run in NCAA's ends for Curry and Wildcats

NORTH CAROLINA -- Davidson's "Cinderella" season came to a disappointing end against the top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks, Sunday by the score of 59-57.

With the score 59-54, it seemed as if the game was going to have a fairy tale ending for the faithful fans of Davidson when Stephen Curry, who finished the game with 25 points (9-of-25 from the field), nailed a long-range three-pointer making the score 59-57 with only 54 seconds on the clock.

After Kansas' Sherron Collins missed a shot with 21 seconds, Davidson's dream of making the Final Four seemed like a reality. Davidson quickly called a timeout in order to draw up the last play of the game.

Coming out of the time out, everybody in the building knew Curry would be taking the last shot. As a result, the Jayhawks of Kansas hovered over Curry as he dribbled nervously to the left before reversing to the right.

Unfortunately, he couldn't find an opening in the Kansas tough defensive interior. As Curry gave up his dribble, several Kansas defenders surrounded him forcing the sophomore sharp-shooter to pass the ball to his teammate Jason Richards, who slung up an off-balance jumper from the top of the key that banged off the side of
backboard.

Season over.  Final score: Kansas 59-57. KU advances. Davidson goes home.

The fairy tale ends.

Curry, who became only the fourth player to hit the 30-point mark in his first four NCAA tournament games and was picked Most Outstanding Player of the Midwest Regional.

His roommate, Bryant Barr, was the only other Davidson player in double figures, scoring all 11 of his points in the second half. The loss snapped Davidson's 25-game winning streak, longest in the nation.
