Farewell To 'The Bear'
image
Haskins, who was nicknamed "The Bear," was the head coach at UTEP from 1961-99, leading the Miners to 719 wins, as well as a national title (1966), 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and seven Western Athletic Conference championships.

All The Sports News That's Fit To Print
JR Holden We still have preconceived notions that federations will cheat to no ends and that little known sports like BMX racing have somehow become a part of the Olympic aristocracy.

The Passing Of Gene Upshaw
image
While I have never met Mr. Upshaw personally, I have begun to understand the complexities of what he had to do on a daily basis. Some of his decisions I agreed with, a lot of them, I didn't understand and a few I just said, "huh?" on.

Ghetto Fabulous??
Ron Artest I don't think Ron Artest watched the CNN special titled "Black in America". If he did, he wouldn't make this idiotic claim of repping the black world. In no way does this definition of ghetto, as defined by a renowned dictionary, does it refer to being ghetto as being a bombastic jackass or monumental proportions.

Some Village May Be Missing Its Idiot
Howard Schultz Poor Howard Schultz. He seems to believe that he has been an innocent dupe in a $350 million sale of the Seattle Sonics to Clay Bennett. Never mind that he jerked a city around and never found a local buyer before jumping over to a man who owns his own newspaper. BASN's Gregory Moore writes how maybe it is time for the people of Seattle to tell Howie to just go home and stay home.

A Rebuttal To Dr. Watkins
image
Now I'm sure Doc Watkins is going to disagree with me on a lot of these points but I think a healthy discussion about this serious topic is in order; especially from those in the Black community because it is this particular community where most of the athletes are coming from for many of the schools (talent wise) and who are being affected the most by not being paid.

The Wave Of The Future??
Basketball Association Logos Brandon Jennings and Josh Childress set the pro basketball world on its collective ear in the past several weeks as both have decided to jump over to FIBA for different reasons. BASN's Gregory Moore writes that while this may be a new phenomenon, this may not be the status quo in pro basketball just yet.

Please End The Second City Side Show
Cubs Curse I'm sure Steve Bartman would love to forget the events of October 14, 2003 during the NLCS game between the Cubbies and the Florida Marlins, but there are people out there who will not let this man get any rest.

G.I. Blues -- Motown Style
image
Despite the media stories saying that the Army has botched this story from jump, there was a greater duty that Caleb Campbell agreed to before the Detroit Lions ever drafted him; a duty to fulfill his commitment to the United States of America who paid for his education.

Putting The 'D' In Drama

image

Seriously, why should the Green Bay Packers even give credence to Brett Favre coming back even as a back up to Aaron Rodgers? Think about it for a minute. What kind of courtesy has Favre shown Rogers, a man who has to replace this now legend who is becoming a legendary diva on the NFL circuit?
